This month, we carried out preventive maintenance on two VA 70-D compressors aboard a ship docked at the port of Pasajes, which will soon resume operations. Taking advantage of this downtime, they decided to fine-tune their machines.

During the maintenance, we also detected a minor issue that we were able to fix before it could cause problems while the ship is at sea.

This meant that in the event of a failure in the manager system, the compressor could lose its ability to load air. As part of the upgrade, we added the capability for the compressor to operate independently. This ensures peace of mind for the client in case of any issues with the master system.

Additionally, we replaced the inefficient hose-based signal communication with Profinet communications and supplied an HMI interface screen. This upgrade was necessary due to frequent failures in the incandescent lamp pilot system, providing the user with intuitive and informative displays of the machine's real-time status.

In November, our technicians also worked on migrating the control system of a client’s compressors in Latin America. The service included replacing obsolete equipment with new, modern systems.

The project involved a compressor room with four compressors managed by a system that improves energy efficiency and functionality. Previously, the compressors communicated via Modbus, which resulted in slow, overloaded connections and required a complementary connection, as the subordinate equipment lacked autonomous confirmation of communication status.

In another room of the same facility, two additional compressors were operating on an independent line, also using an outdated control system.

Our service included replacing obsolete equipment with current models, as the older units were discontinued. We also upgraded the communication system from Modbus to profinet, resulting in a more robust and efficient setup. Furthermore, the upgrade ensures that replacement parts can be procured within an acceptable timeframe in the event of a failure.
